Welcome to Walnut Park!

SAFE ARRIVAL  Thank you to parents who have been calling or e-mailing in the morning to let us know when their children will be away for the day. We will continue to phone parents to check on students who are not present during morning attendance, as our main concern is student safety. However, if parents are able to call or e-mail the school between 8:00 and 9:00, it is greatly appreciated.   250-847-4464  The best e-mail address to use for advising us of student absences is: This email address is being protected from spambots. ENROLLMENT for 2016-17

We want to determine as accurately as possible the number of students who will be attending Walnut Park next year to help us plan classes and staffing.  If you are moving out of town or will be registering your child in another school in the area, please let us know.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION started on January 18th, but it's not too late to register for September 2016!  This is for children born in 2011.  Parents are asked to bring birth certificate and CARE card.

Please comply with the “no parking” signs along the sidewalk in the drop-off zone.   In the interest of safety and to minimize congestion in our parking lot, please only stop briefly to pick up or let your children off. If you need to leave your vehicle, we request you make use of our parking lot. Thank-you for your help with this!

What's New

Student Safety  A letter was sent home today (Wednesday, May 25th) with all students.  All students are reminded not to interact with strangers and to report any incidents immediately.  A copy of the letter issued today is entitled "Student Safety" and is posted under newsletters.

The LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for STUDENTS has been changed to Tuesday, June 28th with dismissal at 1:15 pm.  This is a district change (from June 29th) to accomodate another curriculum implementation day for teachers on Wednesday, June 29th.

The school district is required to provide ten hours of non-instructional time for teachers to work with and become familiar with the new K-9 curriculum. Schools will dismiss one hour early on five of the early-dismissal Thursdays: January 21, February 18, March 17, April 28, and May 19. On these five Thursdays, students will be dismissed at 1:08 and buses will run at that time. Students can be dismissed at the start of lunch hour (12:00) if parents wish, but we will have our regular noon hour supervision in place on these dates. A letter with more information will be sent home next week. This letter will ask what your preference will be for your child(ren).
